Strengths and Advantages
BolsterMail includes powerful SMTP and Web-SSL based Email Servers "out of the box", providing easy to use multi-browser, full featured BolsterMail Email Dashboard Client, accessible to almost all modern browsers, on all platforms, including modern mobile devices. BolsterMail Email Dashboard provides permission based access to all authorized Bolster Suite applications.

The BolsterMail Dashboard has built-in pagination. The default email per page listing can be adjusted by the user in Properties. If the user has access to multiple Bolster Suite applications, at the bottom of the Dashboard is the Dashboard Docker. The Docker provides a real-time display of Daily Appointments, EIM's and/or CMS documents...all based on the user's permissions.

Built-in Anti-Spam and Email Archiving, with optional Public and/or Commercial Block-Lists.

Fully Compliant "out of the box", BolsterMail Email server is designed from the ground up to be compliant, easy to use, install and manage. Fast, secure, optionally self updating and is totally reliable. It is always up.

If a user has multiple email accounts, the Bolster Suite Administrator can grant access to other BolsterMail email accounts, complete with all assigned applications. In the Edit menu, the user simply selects Go To User or Switch Back to the user's main account.

Email Search
BolsterMail includes powerful Email Search. Select one, many or all mailboxes. Search Subject, From, To, Cc, or All with Email Body.

In addition, Search options include search by "Exact Phrase" or "All Key Words" or "Any Key Words", plus Case Sensitivity and optional Date Range.


Mailboxes
BolsterMail provides multiple mailbox levels, including six core mailboxes: Inbox, Sent, Trash, Draft, Junk and Saved. Mailboxes can be added, edited, Archived, or removed. All mailboxes and email data have scheduled backups via Bolster Suite's BUStore™.

Send, Reply, Reply All and Forward Email
It's easy to Send, Reply, Reply All and Forward Email with BolsterMail. Full intergration with our Contact/List Manager makes it easy to send email to contacts and/or contact lists.

Features include sending email in (X)HTML or Text Email, adding attachments, Inline Images (at the cursor) and links. You can also select your choice of fonts, styles, sizes, colors, tables and other editing tools.

Users have the option of sending email with different encodings, including encrypted email, set email priority, or select Text Only. By default, all email sent is saved in your Sent mailbox, but this is optional.

Each User can save unsent emails in their Draft mailbox, with attachments, Inline Images and more. Once the Draft email is sent, the email is removed from the Draft mailbox.

With a Reply, Reply All or Forward message with attachments, each user can select any or all attachments to send or not to send.

Each email to be sent automatically applies the user's email "Trailer". Set in user Properties, each user can include their name and contact information. The From field is obtained by the user's login. It cannot be edited to help stop email spoofing.

Viewing Email
Viewing email is as easy as double-clicking on an email from the Dashboard list. It's easy to Reply, Reply All and Forward Email, or create a new email from the top icon row.

The user can easily Print, add the From user directly to the Contact List Manager, view the full email header or if the email was sent in HTML and Text (the default being HTML), the user can simply click on the text version.

All attachments are displayed at the bottom, including Inline Image attachments, while the images display in the email. If an attachment is suspicious, a warning icon appears next to the attachment link.

All email content is filtered for potential SPAM and embedded threats. If a threat is detected, the email is routed to the user's Junk mailbox.

The SPAM Problem
If you use email, it is likely that you have recently received SPAM...unsolicited, unwanted message(s) sent to you without your permission. SPAM is the Internet's version of junk mail.

If you have been using the Internet for more than a few years, or if you participate in online discussion groups, you might receive a dozen or more of these messages each day. If you administer an email server for an Enterprise, business or university, you might be bombarded with hundreds or thousands per day.

SPAM is costly. Between the man-hours needed to fight SPAM, to each user dealing with SPAM, to resources used...SPAM has become a serious problem.

BolsterMail™ Anti-SPAM
BolsterMail was designed to be flexible and powerful in countering SPAM. With multiple proven SPAM countering techniques, built-in White List, optional Block Lists, Administrator level SPAM filtering, and on top of that, each user can manage SPAM.

The BolsterMail Anti-SPAM Advantage
Built into BolsterMail is our flexible SPAM filters. The Bolster Suite Administrator sets the server-wide SPAM filters for all Bolster Suite users.

In addition to the filters applied by the Administrator, each email user account has the ability to apply their own SPAM filters, specific to that user.

Included are filters for each email header and/or email body. Filters can be by text string, domain, IP address, IP range and/or many others. All filtered email is router to each user's Junk mailbox.

BolsterMail also has built-in, the option to apply Public and/or commerical SPAM Block lists such as SpamCop, Spamhaus and/or any others you may prefer.

There is also the option to utilize the built-in DNS Block List features.

Each Block List checks email before processing by the SMTP server. If an email is blocked, is it not saved.

In addition to all of the options above, Bolster Suite's Contact/List database also functions as each user's email White-List.

Threat Guarding
In-email threats are an ever growing problem. From malicious embedding to install spyware, adware and viruses, to tracking your every internet and email action, guarding against such threats is critical.

BolsterMail Threat Guard Edge
When any email is opened, the email is checked for malicious code, Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities, embedded Javascript, embedded Internet-based content and more. Any potentially malicious material is removed before the email loads.

For email with Internet based content, the user has the option to view that content by clicking on the "TRUST" button.

Any potentially harmful attachment is represented by an Alert icon. The user has the option to download the attachment, but it is clearly stated as a potential risk.

A Note About Anti-Virus
BolsterMail stores email in its original encoding, even if encrypted, with read-only permissions. Server based viruses will simply not be a result of BolsterMail. Most Anti-Virus PC software will detect a virus if downloaded. Check your Anti-Virus provider for details.

BolsterMail™ is built to be a highly reliable mission critical application. For a mission critical applications such as email, compliance is vital. We have done a great deal of research to be standards compliant and regulatory compliant.

BolsterMail™ is compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), SEC and FINRA (NASD) regulations and more. With built-in email archiving, encryption, full Bolster Suite data backup and more, Bolster Suite makes sure your data is safeguarded and compliant.

Regulatory Compliance
Due to the vital nature of email as a business communication tool, over the years, regulations for email have been required since electronic records increasingly must be retained and protected.

Electronic record storage, retrieval and monitoring solutions must to be in place in order for companies to be compliant with a number of regulatory bodies. A number of which overlap and/or compliment each other, such as SEC 17a-3 and 17a-4, FINRA (NASD) 3010 and 3110, NYSE 342, 440 & 442 and SEC RIA 204-2 and 206(4)-7.

For Example:
• Firms must preserve electronic business records and retain for 3-6 year retention period. (SEC 17a-4)
• Messages must be stored in their original form on tamperproof, non-rewriteable and non-erasable media and must be stored in duplicate in separate locations. (SEC 17a-4)
• Archived messages must be time/date stamped and serialized. Messages must be indexed and searchable. (SEC Rule 17a-4)
• Firms must have an auditing system in place and store audit records. (SEC 17a-4)
• Firms must appoint an independent third party downloader to access the organization's electronic records, if the firm is unable or unwilling to do so. (SEC 17a-4)
• Policy and procedures should be in place to supervise, review and sample registered representatives' electronic communication. Supervisors must have the ability to review outgoing email for noncompliant language. (NASD 3010)
• Firms need to be able to show that supervisory procedures are being enforced with documented records. (NASD 3010)

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) also known as the Public Company Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act of 2002, was enacted by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in direct response to the high profile corporate scandals of the time.

SOX relates to the type of records stored, and for how long, but for public companies only. It is designed for any part of the business that generates or processes electronic records. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act states that all business records, including electronic records and electronic messages, must be saved for "not less than five years."

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 established federal regulations that require all organizations that manage Protected Health Information (PHI) to safeguard the privacy and security of their data. A HIPAA security rule regarding electronic PHI was introduced in 2005, essentially focused on securely protecting data confidentiality and integrity. The information must also be available and retrievable.

In addition, The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) are rules that govern court procedures for civil suits in the United States district courts. Their rules are set for businesses keep records in case they are needed for litigation.

It is clearly vital for any business to retain and archive electronic records, epecially email, more than ever.

Standards Compliance
Email has numerous Requests for Comment (RFC's) designed for standards used to send and receive email. However, not all email providers follow these standards, which causes transport issues, display issues, missing attachments, content and more.

BolsterMail has proven success not only being standards compliant, but compatible with those email providers who do not follow the standards.

Bolster Suite™ → BolsterMail™, Email Archiving:

Email Archiving is a critical component of email communications BUStore™, . It is now required, in most cases, for regulatory compliance.

Bolster Suite provides BUStore™ which regularly backs-up all Bolster Suite data, including email. In addition, BolsterMail provides email archiving for any mailbox. Bolster Suite Administrators have the option to archive any user's account. In addition, each user has the option to archive any non-core mailbox in Properties.

When Archiving a users mailbox or account, all messages or data are compressed and stored locally as one file, as well as backed-up via BUStore™ to the administrator designated remote storage device...It's that simple.

All archiving actions are monitored and logged.

Bolster Suite™ → BolsterMail™, Technical:

BolsterMail Email Server is designed for Unix-like platforms such as Solaris, Linux, *BSD and AIX. It is purely for use over SMTP and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL/HTTPS). No longer are POP and/or IMAP servers, or Outlook® and other clients required to get your email, only a web browser. System Requirements can be found here.

Servers
BolsterMail requires only a web server, such as Apache with SSL capability on most Unix platforms and use of cron...that is all. BolsterMail includes our web based application servers, SMTP server and all accompanying databases, images and files. The entire Bolster Suite application set, is less than 10 MB in size.

BolsterMail's SMTP server is based on the source code of qmail, with only minor modifications. BolsterMail Server integrates with the SMTP server, and manages, optionally encrypts, indexes, filters each email and more.

BolsterMail's highly distributed architecture, allows for real virtical scalability, minimal resource requirements, while able to handle thousands of users and Terabytes of email and data.

Browser Based
BolsterMail, like all of Bolster Suite, is web based. Bolster Suite is accessible using most modern browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Apple® Safari, Microsoft® Internet Explorer and more. In addition, mobile device browsers capable of SSL connections, are also Bolster Suite accessible.
